Our family kicked mom and me out - But just before grandma died, she said shahadah. Lately I have noticed alot of reverts posting about how non-supportive their family/friends have been towards them for becoming muslim.
I would like to share some of my story with you if you do not mind. ( I am not good at writing things down like this so please be patient with me)
I come from a southern baptist background where basically you ask no questions you listen to your pastor because he knows best. My family was very church orientated especially my grandmother.

When my grandmother found out that my mother (a minister) had converted to Islam and that her grandchild (who was 13 at the time) had become muslim she was not supportive at all. My mom and I were basically ostracized from the family for a while but eventually they became use to us being muslim and i guess they started to miss us. It is very important to always pray that your family comes into Islam and embraced it even though they so dislike to your religion, so my mom and I would always pray for them to accept Islam especially my grandmother.

About 5 years later my grandmother fell ill because of her diabetes and had both legs amputated. We thought her health would improve but it didnt it only got worse and she was dying in the hospital.
So on one of our visits my mom started making dua for her to Allah and she started saying shahada (La ilaha illa Allah wa-Muhammad rasul Allah.
There is no god but God and Muhammad is the prophet of God.)
and I was thinking oh no why did my mom say this my grandmother is going to kick her out of the room but my grandmother didnt she turned to my mom and said what are you saying to me and my mom said Im praying to Allah to heal your sickness. My grandmother then started listening to my mother praying (which I though was crazy because she always told us not to bring Islam up around her ). Then all of a sudden she (my grandmother) says La ilah illa Allah wa-Muhammmad rasul Allah and my mom said it to her again and my grandmother continued to repeat after her and then my grandmother said what does this mean and my mom told her and my grandmother just said amen.

If you were to tell me that my grandmother was to say this before she died I would never have believed it. All praise is due to Allah (swt)!!!
So always remember brothers and sisters pray for your family and always have faith in Allah because he will always listen to your prayers.
