This video is intended to clear up the dangerous mistakes many of us have made about the two Holy Books!

That's right! I said two - Because this applies to both Bible & Quran - As Muslims, we do not want to see either book mishandled, disrespected nor mutilated. Please ask people to respect other religons and their books. Jews, Muslims and Christians honor God and His prophets and the books or revelations God sent with them.

Why Muslims LOVE Bible and Quran?

Let us begin by examining the feelings held by Muslims and the place in the heart we have for both the Bible and the Quran.

Quran - (Muslims) It Means "Recitation"
The word "Quran" means "that which is recited; or that which is dictated in memory form." It is not just a book, nor is it something that reaches us only in written form. There are several ancient Qurans preserved in museums, including the Topekopi Palace in Istanbul, Turkey, the museum in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and also in England. The Quran is considered "Quran" in the recitation form, not only in a book. The word for what is written and held in the hand to be read by the eye is usually called "mus-haf" (meaning scriptures or that which is written).

Only One Version - Arabic
There are no different versions of the Quran in the Arabic language, only different translations and of course, none of these would be considered to hold the value and authenticity of the original Arabic Recitation.

Memorized by Millions - Entirely
The Quran is memorized in the Arabic language by Muslims even as youngsters. Today over twenty million (20,000,000) have memorzied it from cover to cover - completely and they can recite the entire Quran from memory all the way through.

Every Muslim Has Memorized Some of the Quran
All Muslims have memorzied portions of Quran in Arabic, for their daily prayers. More than one and half billion (1,500,000,000) Muslims worldwide (only 10 to 12% are Arab). For most of the 1 1/2 billion it is a second language.

Bible - (for Jews & Christians)
Muslims are told by God, in the Quran to believe fully in the original 'Torah' (Old Testament) & 'Injeel' (Good News or New Testament)
Today there are many different "versions" of the Bible, different translations and various collections of different books no longer in the Bible whle other books have been added, removed and then added back over the last 20 centuries.

Bible - (early Christians) Dead Sea Scrolls
Some scholars claim the scrolls found at Wadi Qumran caves (near the Dead Sea) are from early Christians living in remote parts of the desert to avoid persecution of the Romans. Muslims also honor such findings even though it is obvious these are not the originals. Fact is, they still represent something that originated with God.

We hope this helps people understand, as Muslims it is a part of our belief, these are truly Holy Books (even translations must be respected). Naturally, we insist for the proper care and handling and disposing of them when it becomes necessary.
Our scholars prefer shredding and burning over other methods, but burying is also acceptable. We understand from this, it is not the burning of the Qurans that caused so many Muslims to demonstrate all around the world, it was the intent to disrespect and dishonor the very heart of the belief in all Muslims.

Incidentally, Muslims feel sad for Christians who do not respect their own book when people dishonor and disrespect it.
