Muslim Personality of the Year
Ibrahim Bumelha, Chairman of the Award Organising Committee, told Islam Newsroom - "Sheikh Yusuf Estes was chosen from a group of nominees for his unremitting efforts to spread and preach Islam's tolerant teachings and values in the West"
When Sheikh Yusuf was told of his selection, he quickly said he did not consider himself even qualified to receive such an award, especially since he has not completed his memorization of the entire Quran as of yet.
Sheikh Yusuf only agreed to accept the award after learning it was not just about memorizing or reciting Quran, but the propagation of the true and beautiful message contained within the Holy Quran. Even then, he commented that his volunteers and workers around the world deserved the credit and requested this be mentioned in any ceremony.
Estes also expressed his thanks and gratitude to Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and to the award's organising committee members for their interest and support of his newest project to show true and peaceful Islam in America - Guide US TV, the first satellite TV channel for Islam in the U.S. and Canada.
About Yusuf Estes' Conversion to Islam -
- Yusuf Estes was in the music business, selling pianos, organs and guitars as well as the music minister in his church.
- He carried his Bible everywhere and loved to preach about Jesus and the Trinity to all who would listen.
- Yusuf's father introduced him to an Egyptian Muslim to work together in business.
- Immediately he was trying to convert the man to Christianity
- A Catholic priest (Father Peter Jacobs) came along with him and both of them were talking to the Egyptian Muslim
- Nightly sessions and discussions about religion, Bible, God and prophets brought the priest and Yusuf closer to understanding a much better picture of Islam.
- First the priest converted to Islam
- Next day Yusuf Estes excepted Islam
- His wife was next (immediately)
- His father made shahadah (declared Islam as his faith) later on.
- And since then he has witnessed thousands of others come to the correct understanding of true Islam and the message of peaceful, submission to Almighty God - Allah - without any partners.

The Guide US TV project has been a dream and dedication for Sheikh Yusuf for the last 10 years. "Just seeing it come to reality 17 months ago has been a dream come true, by the permission of Allah. And this is the honor I appreciate so much - from Allah"says Sheikh Yusuf.
He also stated, "I do not deserve any special recognition for doing what Allah has created me to do - that is to propagate the worship of Allah by all humans and jinn. There are many people far more deserving of this than me. However, I will accept this on behalf of all of those many brothers and sisters around the world joining me in this grand effort."
The award presentation with be conducted in the month of Ramadhan in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and will be posted on Sheikh Yusuf page on Facebook and on www.IslamEvents.com/yusuf

What if we give an award every month to Muslims who do something good for Islam?
Send them money, and give them recognition for their project so others will help them or maybe do good things in their area too.
