Washington, D.C. - On October 21, 2011 President Obama announced, a full withdrawal of all U.S. troops in Iraq -- He said, "Starting now..." (story below)

"Today I can report as promised, all our troops in Iraq are coming home from Iraq by the end of this year" said President Obama. "After 9 years, America's war on terror in Iraq is over. Over next 2 months our troops in Iraq, tens of thousands of them, will pick up their gear, get on board conveys for the journal home."

After nearly 10 years, billions (if not trillions) of dollars, nearly 5,000 American, countless innocent civilians, so many more journalists lives and untold numbers of maimed and martyred in the name of "Enduring Freedom", at long last American military troops can look forward to coming home.

The president confirmed he's been talking with Iraq's Prime Minister, Nur Al Maliki and Iraqi government is supporting Americans withdrawing. "We are fully agreeing on how to move forward" he said.

"Christmans will be a turning point for all of us" -- unnamed soldier said on hearing of Obama's proclamation today.

"I just want to get out of here and forget all of it..." -- says another soldier, without looking up when asked how she felt about finally coming home after an extended tour of duty in Iraq.

"This was nothing to be proud of and I don't look at us as heros, just people trying to do an impossible job and we did it more or less" -- Al Numan, independent correspondent

Actually, withdrawal of troops from Iraq has been a talking point of both Obama and ex-president Bush for a very long time. First time it was drafted was during Bush's administration. Putting it into full swing and bringing home the troops was a major campaign promise of Obama when he ran for election back in 2007 and 2008.

The military will keep about 160 servicemen and women in Baghdad to provide security for the embassy there.
