I'm about 30 miles north of Mineral, Virginia. I was in the basement and the noise was so loud that I thought something had happened at Lake Anna Nuclear Facility. Needless to say it really frightened me!

I live in a high-rise apartment building. Shortly before 2 pm, I felt something strange happen, not quite a shaking but suddenly my wood furniture creaked, the plaster in the walls made noises, and I felt a force of some kind move through the apartment. I went out onto my balcony to look around outside, and others were out looking around, too. The thought of an earthquake ran through my mind but everything looked normal outside.

Al Hamdulillah! We are safe but it was scary. Books fell off the bookshelf and our cat has not come out from under the bed yet.

We felt it strongly in Alexandria, VA! The walls shook and the chairs in my office were bumping around along the floor. Our building briefly evacuated, but now it's business as usual.

On the 24th floor of a building and the entire floor shook....It was crazy and bought back memories of 9/11. I was sick to my stomach.

I'm working on the computer, the twins are in the living room, and then I felt the shaking, thinking it was just something else. As I watch the TV go back and forth, I second guess, is this an earthquake? Cornelius, NC- just a few miles north of Charlotte.

Felt it here in Baltimore... whole apartment building rocked and rolled, windows rattled, and I immediately knew what it was. Lasted perhaps 15-20 seconds... no damage noted..

I'm 11 and I live in Raleigh North Carolina my home and school just felt the quake. I was sitting at home and suddenly everything started to vibrate. I was freaked out even though it was just a tiny little tremor. I told my dad then called my mom who said that the same thing had just happened at our school!
