Migration (
Hijrah): Just How Free are we to Move?
Why not ask one of millions of migrants seeking refuge..

hongkong04

..in other countries.

Hu Yan's family is part of China's 1-million large migrant population.

As long as inequities exist between countries, people will go where they see a better life for themselves and their families.
But how much immigration and emigration is too much of a good thing?

Who?
Which people are restricted from moving? What does the term "refugee" really mean and who are eligible for this status? Who are the ones that really should move? What rights and responsibilities do migrants and governments have, and where do we go from here?

And for Muslims - What about the Islamic perspective regarding relocation?
We know from the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, that when a society or neighborhood has become corrupt or of bad influence, we must move to another place. This is quite obvious in order to save our famiies and loved ones from the "evils of society today"...
--- But the question is, "WHERE?"

Where?
Today's world is full of places to move to - but are they really any better than where we are now? What are the opportunities and what are the negative sides to the story?

Often times, our brothers in Islam, especially those who convert to the deen, seek ways to relocate in more "ideal" surroundings to learn Arabic, learn Quran and learn deen.
Sounds great.
But talk to these same brothers a few years down the road and see just how much the relocation wasn't really all that "ideal".

Education?
We all want the best education for our children and Islam is a definite part of the learning necessary for all Muslims. But what about these "madrassas" in other countries? What do they really teach? How much can you learn? What are the mistakes in these places? Who really runs them? What are the disadvantages of studying in these countries?

Visitor notes for China a majority of Chinese Muslims under the poverty line, due to the functioning of most agriculture, grazing, fishing, and the reluctance of public education and scientific disciplines.
Even the Chinese media is absent from them.
