Yusuf Estes will be updating this topic from Hong Kong daily, inshallah. Migration: Why not ask Hu Yan? |

But how much immigration and emigration is too much of a good thing? What rights and responsibilities do migrants and governments have, and where do we go from here? What about the Islamic perspective regarding relocation? We know from the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, that when a society or neighborhood has become corrupt or of bad influence, we must move to another place. This is quite obvious in order to save our famiies and loved ones from the "evils of society today"... --- But the question is, "WHERE?" Today's world is full of places to move to - but are they really any better than where we are now? What are the opportunities and what are the negative sides to the story?
Often times, our brothers in Islam, especially those who convert to the deen, seek ways to relocate in more "ideal" surroundings to learn Arabic, learn Quran and learn deen. Sounds great. But talk to these same brothers a few years down the road and see just how much the relocation wasn't really all that "ideal". While we are here in Hong Kong, one of the most densly populated and upward moving places on earth, we intend, inshallah, to learn and share with you more on this topic of "migration in the 21st century".
