NOTICE: WE DO NOT OFFER FATWAH (Religious Rulings). Matters requiring opinions of scholars (fatwah) must be redirected to other scholars "It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision." Quran [33:36]
#1. Does a sister have to wear certain number of bangles and flashy jewelry? I heard she will be asked about this on the Day of Judgment if she doesn't. This sounds strange. Do I wear these at work? What is your answer?
Answer: Thank you for your questions. May Allah guide you to all that is best for you and keep you strong in Islam, ameen.
As regards wearing any "bangles" we are not aware of any hadeeth mentioning this. Even if there were, this seems to be a problem due to the clear ayah (verse) in the Quran forbidding women from wearing this type of ornament publicly, or anything that attracts attention toward her body in any form.
Reference Quran, chapter 24 (Surah An Nur), verse 31 and Quran, chapter 33 (Al Ahzab), verse 59 (also refer to the tafsir on www.Qtafsir.com)
#2. I am 25, was married 2 yrs before. My husband and I lived together for 6 days. Then he went back to his country.
Now i am trying to take divorce (khulah) ,in case of a working woman if it is not possibel for her to stay at home after 3 months of her divorce cos she may lost her job coz i started a month before. what must she do?
We are sorry to hear that things did not work out for your marriage. Is there any possibility that things could change and that your husband might return and rekindle the marriage? This would of course be the nice solution to the problem.
If you find that there is no solution and that he will not return, you might contact your local imam for assistance in contacting your husband and trying to work things through the Islamic court system, inshallah. Staying at home naturally assumes that someone is providing for the woman as is prescribed in the Quran: "Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allâh has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allâh and to their husbands), and guard in the husband's absence what Allâh orders them to guard (e.g., their chastity, their husband's property, etc.). As to those women on whose part you see bad conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, percuss them, (see explanation of "percuss" http://islamnewsroom.com/answers/352-wife-beating-no-way) but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allâh is Ever Most High, Most Great." Quran 4, 34 If there are no men to care for the women, then it immediately becomes their duty to do their best to protect themselves and provide for themselves, inshallah. There is no sin on what we cannot avoid or are incapable of dealing with, inshallah.
