2 PM (EST) TODAY - According to U.S. Weather Service - Hurricane Irene IS NOT PEACE!
Many times we hear people saying "Islam is Peace" but did you know "Irene" also means 'peace' (Greek)?
And right now, no one would argue more against that meaning while seeing the death and destruction being caused by this hurricane as it marches up the eastern coast of America - from the U.S. into Canada.
Look at the map (above) - Irene is following the course predicted yesterday - right up through the east coast - And this comes just after the series of earthquakes that struck near Richmond - Virginia's capitol. Looks like California is not the only U.S. coast with earthquakes, weather problems and disasters anymore.
Hurricane Irene, reached category 3 on the wind scale. But is weakening as it moves northward up the U.S. coast line into eastern Canada by tomorrow.
Hurricane Irene continues to churn its way through the Carolinas and has already caused 2 deaths in North Carolina, with more havoc being predicted.
Throughout the rest of the day winds remain strong gusting up to 80-90 mph. Bands of heavy rain from Irene will continue to move into our area all day, with some of the heaviest rain moving right along the edges and central points.
Stay out of the water - that is the best advice for boaters considering to put out to sea.
Ocean conditions remain extremely dangerous with waves reaching heights of 11-13 feet through this afternoon and evening
On Saturday we are seeing just exactly how accurate weather predictions can be. HURRICANE warnings are now in affect along the East Coast of the United States.

Hurricane Irene landed near Cape Lookout, North Carolina, ending a 3 year lapse in hurricanes making it to land along this part of the U.S.
Punishing rain bands lashed the Carolinas, southeast Virginia and the Delmarva Peninsula.
Sustained tropical storm-force winds occurred all across eastern North Carolina with several gusts above hurricane force along the immediate coast. Winds climbed up to tropical storm-force over southeast Virginia.
Extreme, destructive impacts are expected to continue through the weekend in eastern portions of the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Hurricane warnings are posted as far north as New England, including New York City and Long Island. Those destructive impacts include a significant water level rise (surge and wave action), excessive rainfall and damaging winds.
