Imam Safi Khan
Imam Safi Khan is the founder and Director of the Dar-us-Salaam Community in College Park, MD. Dar-us-Salaam encompasses a variety of services, including a preschool, a private K-12 school, various businesses ventures, a newspaper, and other educational institutes.
He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Maryland, and is well versed in Islamic law, tafsir, and seerah. He has been a prominent lecturer, family and youth counselor in the Washington DC metropolitan area for the past 25 years. He has multiple cds and tapes out on numerous Islamic topics.
Imam Safi is the Advisory Imam for DC Hidayah.
Sheik Yusuf Estes
Sheik Yusuf Estes is a well-known TV personality on Muslim channels all over the world.
Sheikh Yusuf was in raised in a strong Christian home in Houston, Texas. He successfully operated piano and organ stores, music studios and television shows. He used his humor and musical talent to promote Christianity and the Bible’s teachings wherever he went.
In 1991, while trying to convert a Muslim from Egypt he found out the truth about real Islam and comparisons to Christianity.
Sheik Yusuf then accepted Islam along with his friend, Father Peter Jacobs, a Catholic priest. Immediately, his wife also accepted Islam along with his children and later his father also accepted Islam.
Since then he has witnessed many thousands of people waking up to the faith of believing in One God and acting on His Commandments as servants of God – in Islam, as Muslims.
Sheikh Yusuf went on to study Arabic, Quran, Tafsir, Hadeeth, Fiqh, Seerah, Shariah and Dawah of Islam.
Although he has traveled all over the world and visited with many of the most well-known scholars, written a number of works comparing Islam to other religions and made many programs for different aspects of Islam in English, Sheikh Yusuf insists he is not a scholar and does not consider himself an expert in any field of Islam.
Sheik Yusuf helps many new people enter Islam using straight talk and humor. Even while he answers harsh attacks against Islam, he continues to make it enjoyable and easy for all to understand.
Sheik Yusuf has served as National Muslim Chaplain for the U.S. Bureau of Prisons and has been the Delegate to the United Nations World Peace Summit for Religious Leaders. He has established hundreds of websites for Islam.

Imam Abdul-Rafaa Ouertani
He is Imam of ADAMS Center and Al-Fatih Academy of Sterling, Virginia. Imam Ouertani has degrees in the Philosophy of Education from Tunisia, where he was born and raised. He has taught Arabic and Quran for many years in Virginia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He has also been the principal of two Islamic Schools as well as Arabic language director. Imam Abdul Rafaa enjoys volunteering with Boy Scouts of America and coaching soccer.As an outdoor enthusiast, he also works with AFA staff to develop “outdoor classrooms” to further the mission of the school in teaching students in a holistic manner. He also began many successful after-school programs and clubs such as chess, astronomy, gardening, and photography.
Imam Shaker Elsayed
Imam Shaker has been the Imam of the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church, Virginia, since 2005. He is well known in the DC Metro area Muslim community for his political activism. He has an undergraduate degree in Economics and Independent Islamic Studies from Cairo, and has done graduate work in Educational Administration and Psychology at the University of Houston in Texas.
Imam Mohamed Abdullahi
Sh. Mohamed Abdullahi is the Imam at the Muslim Community Center (MCC). After completing memorization of the Qur’an at the age of eleven. Sh. Abdullahi graduated with Honors in Licentiate (Masters-level) in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. He also holds a Diploma in Shariah from the National Somali University in Mogadishu, Somalia.. He is a certified Qari in three styles of recitation and has command of Arabic, Somali, Swahili and English. Since 1987, Sh. Abdullahi has served as a teacher and Imam at various Washington, DC area Masajids and Islamic schools. Prior to joining MCC he was Imam at the Masjid Abdul-Moghni in LaPlata, MD. Imam Mohamed was also a religious volunteer with the Southern Maryland Pre-Release Unit (SMPRU) at Charlotte Hall, MD, where he organized Islamic Outreach Program for Muslim inmates. He has also served as Director and teacher at Dar-ul-Nur, The Islamic Institution for Somali Muslim Community in Falls Church, VA. He has also taught at the Al-Huda School in College Park, MD.
Imam Ammar Amonette
Imam Ammar Amonette is a Muslim theologian and a graduate of the Imam Institute of Makkah and of Umm al Qura University, in Saudi Arabia. After accepting a scholarship to study at the Umm Al Qura University, Imam Ammar studied three schools in Saudi, receiving his Masters at the Graduate Institute of Preparation of Imams in Makkah.
Currently, Imam Ammar is serving as imam for the Islamic Center of Virginia, the largest mosque in Richmond, Virginia area.
Imam Johari Abdul-Malik
Imam Johari Abdul-Malik serves as the director of community outreach for the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center. He was the first Muslim Chaplain installed at Howard University. The Imam also serves as the chair of government relations for the Muslim Alliance in North America [MANA founded by Imam Siraj Wahhaj] and is the former President of the Muslim Society of Washington DC, Inc. Known nationally for his fundraising efforts for Masjids, schools and relief organizations, Imam Johari is a founding member of the Muslim Advocacy Commission of Washington, D.C. and “Muslim Men Against Domestic Violence” [MMADV] and has edited a book on “What Islam Says About Domestic Violence”.

Ustadh Haroon Baqai
Haroon Baqai is the director of the full-time Hifzh School and Quranic Programs at Dar-us-Salaam in College Park, Maryland. He has led Taraweeh prayers at Dar-us-Salaam for the past 8 years. He has his Ijazah (certification) from Saudi Arabia in Hafs ‘an ‘Aasim (one of the 7 styles of Quranic recitation).
Shaykh Abu Salman Eberle
Shaykh Abu Salman Eberle is originally from America. He graduated from the Islamic University of Madinah with a Bachelors in the College of Hadeeth and with a Masters in the College of Aqeedah. He served as professor of Jamiah Abu Bakr in Karachi, Pakistan for six years.
He served as an Imam in Springfield, Missouri for some time, and is now a member of the Dar-us-Salaam community in College Park, MD.
Imam Mahmoud Abdel-Hady
Imam Mahmoud Abdelhady is the Imam of Dar-al-Taqwa Masjid in Ellicott City, Maryland, and an instructor of Islamic Leadership Institute of America (ILIA). He has offered marriage counseling to dozens of couples in his local community. Imam Abdelhady offers Quran explanation, memorization and recitation classes. He is a well-known speaker on creed, applications of Islam, and outreach. With over 30 years of experience, Imam Abdelhady is very active in inter-faith dialogue and outreach, family issues, youth educational services and community capacity building.
Dr. Mamdouh Mohamed
Dr. Mamdouh N. Mohamed was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1949 and obtained his first degree from Egypt. He is a professional instructional technologist, and worked as a teacher and teacher-trainer for more than 26 years. The author of “Hajj and Umrah from A to Z”, and the most famous book “Salaat from A to Z”, in addition to being the co-author of a three-volume book; “Arabic for Children”, and developer of some educational software programs.
Dr. Mamdouh is the co-founder of 5 educational institutions worldwide. He had been working as a professor in GMU, Johns Hopkins, and Georgetown universities.
He received a patent in computer design from the U.S.A. patent office and has background in research, teaching and training.
Dr. Mamdouh currently serves as professor and educational advisor to the AOU. His instructional course package, “ARABIC – A Bridge to Islamic Culture” is quite a masterpiece in learning Arabic.
Dr. Daoud Nassimi
He recently finished his Ph.D. in Islamic studies. His dissertation was on a comparative review of some English translations of the Qur’an. He has been an activist and a student of Islam in the last 22 years in the United States. He has been giving the Jummah Khutbahs in various mosques and lecturing on Islamic topics at various forums in the DC area. He has been volunteering to serve the community in various capacities, including as an Imam, counselor, marriage celebrant, teacher, board member, etc. He has been serving as the vice-chairman of the Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for the last 6 years. He is originally from Afghanistan. He is a frequent and passionate speaker in different Muslim Satellite TV shows on the subjects of the Qur’an and Islamic Thought. Dr. Nassimi has a unique and combined educational background in engineering and Islamic studies. Besides his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering and working in the fields of telecommunications and satellite communications in the last 20 years, he has also studied the Arabic language and finished a second Masters degree and a PhD in Islamic studies.
Ustadh Saad Tasleem
Saad Tasleem was born in Albany, GA. He was raised in the Washington Metropolitan area, where he attended the University of Maryland and completed his Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design. Saad has studied Arabic in Egypt and holds a diploma in Arabic from the Islamic University of Madinah. In addition, he is currently a student in the Faculty of Shariah at the Islamic University of Madinah. He has a passion for making dawah and working with Muslim youth in the United States and is actively involved in doing so every time he returns to the United States during his breaks.
