Istanbul, Turkey -- Catholic bishop stabbed in his home in the Mediterranean port of Iskenderun. The kiling...
..was just the latest in a string of  demonstrations in this majority Muslim country. Christians are over one percent of the population of Turkey, which numbers 70 million.

Police have since detained a suspect in the killing of Luigi Padovese, the pope's apostolic vicar in Anatolia.

Governor Mehmet Celalettin Lekesiz says the suspect was the bishop's driver, who had worked for him for the past four-and-a-half years. The suspect is identified by police simply as Murat A.

A television report says the priest died from his injuries in a hospital. There has been no immediate word from the Vatican.
