New York Muslims condemn
attempted bomb attack in New York City this past weekend. These attacks are not endorsed,
nor allowed in Islam. Should the government determine a Muslim was involved in this attack, it is the hope that the perpetrators are brought to justice to the fullest extent of the law. Below is a transcript of the relevant article - by Habiba Nasreen
NEW YORK, NY May, 2010
—As authorities investigate possible motives for this weekend's attempted car bombing in Times Square, members of the local Muslim community are condemning the incidentYusuf Estes speaking on behalf of Guide US TV says, "Terrorism is not a religion and hsa no place in Islam whatsoever" and "For certain, Islam does not support violence"
"For sure many people may feel if the Muslims do not reply by condemning these acts of violence and killing, then their silence could be seen as supporting these actions" says another imam "And nothing could be further from the truth.
The SUV was parked near the offices of Viacom, which owns Comedy Central. The network recently aired an episode of the animated show "South Park" that the radical group "Revolution Muslim" had complained insulted the Prophet Muhammad by depicting him in a bear costume. Authorities have not mentioned any connection between the episode and the SUV.
