JAKARTA  – June 16 
Rescuers are trying to reach 30, possibly more, miners who have been trapped in an underground mine since a terrible explosion ripped through it only hours ago. One official, who asked not to be identified, confirmed the number of those missing and possibly trapped or death could be even higher than originally reported.

Rustam Pakaya, head of the health ministry's disaster center, says one person so far has died and nine more have been admitted to the hospital after the explosion. He also said by telephone text message, at least 30 people were missing and feared to be still ...

Confirmed Cases of H1N1 - First Death to Swine Flu in Virginia (this week)

RICHMOND, Va., June 3 (UPI) -- A resident of a state institution for people with mental disabilities may be the first person in Virginia to die from swine flu.

April Wilson, 34, was transferred from the Southeastern Virginia Training Center to a hospital Friday, The Virginian-Pilot reported. Her mother said she died Tuesday.

Four other residents of the center were taken to Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and three were confirmed to be infected with the H1N1 virus. Officials say two are now in isolation in the center infirmary after being discharged from the hospital.

The Centers for Disease Control reports the number of swine flu cases in the United States had grown to 11,054 as of Monday. There were 17 deaths linked to the flu, four each in Arizona and New York, three each in Illinois and Texas, and one each in Missouri, Utah and Washington state.

U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, stated today, "Providing assistance to Pakistan is... essential for world security and US" and she said the U.S. is ready to "do more if the situation demands."

Statements like these and others coming from Capitol Hill are causing concern amongst some of the popluation of Pakistan, especially those in the area of  Swat Valley, where only days ago the U.S. air force struck a small village, killing more than 100 innocent civilians. It was regarding this occassion that Secretary Clinton also had to make a statement close to apologizing to the people there. WASHINGTON, D.C. - Less than 5% of detainees at Guantanamo Bay have been active or suspected of activities related to terrorism or participated or even discussed terrorist activities after being released.
(Constitutional scholars have long cast doubt on the Pentagon's detainee data, saying it's not proven that at least some of those who were released were even linked to terrorism in the first place)

According to news reports regarding the "detainees" who have been released from Guantanamo Bay, only five percent of them have been suspected of or participated in . .

What is the "Holy Ghost"?
Or is it the "Holy Spirit"? 

My friend changed from being a Hindu to being Pentecostal Christian. He says some missionaries took a 12 year old, deaf and dumb boy and made him speak in front of a crowd. They claim it was the "Holy Spirit" who gets inside of people and do miracles - If they believe Jesus as a savior. 

I am wondering how to explain this story of the deaf and dumb boy and the "Holy Spirit."

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka – The president of this island country has declared Sri Lanka to be at last, "Liberated from sparatist terror". This comes today (Tuesday) as the state owned TV is broadcasting pictures of the leader of the Hindu Tamils body - taken from the battlefield.

Even in his victory speech to parliament, the president was obviously reaching out to the Tamils, who Active Imagerebels had said - they were working to make a homeland for themselves. He also referred to promises of working out a deal to share in restructuriing a power agreement with the Tamils.

"It is our intention to save the Tamil peoples from cruel grip of them (the rebels). We must all live like equals in our free country," (translated from Tamil).

At the same time the TV station was broadcasting video a dead body appearing like the rebel leader, still wearing the camouflage uniform and laying in the grass on a stretcher. The  eyes of the corpse were seen staring upwards and there was a cloth over part of the head, likely to cover wound.

An American accused of spying for the United States, Iranian-American reporter Roxana Saberi spoke during a press briefing outside her home in Tehran.

Saberi, was set free this week from her prison cell in Tehran.

  She said she had aquired a classified report on the U.S. war against Iraq and as a result she was tried and convicted on charges of being a spy.
